New Mexico Arts announces American Rescue Plan arts funding opportunity
Santa Fe, NM –New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, received federal American Rescue Plan funding via the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to provide additional support for arts organizations and to fuel the nation’s recovery from the devastating economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the state arts agency, New Mexico Arts announces that the FY23 NM ARP Guidelines and Application are now available for eligible organizations.
New Mexico Arts will competitively award Rescue Plan funds to eligible organizations in New Mexico. The funds are intended to help support jobs in the arts sector, keep the doors open to arts organizations statewide, and assist the field in its response to and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
New Mexico Arts intends to make awards that will impact a broad constituency. The intent of the funding is to support eligible organizations including those that reach populations historically underserved by the arts due to ethnicity, economics, geography, or disability, etc.; organizations with small and medium-sized budgets; and organizations from rural and urban communities.
New Mexico Arts anticipates making approximately 70+ awards through a competitive process. Nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c) (3), U.S. organizations; units of state or local government; or federally recognized tribal communities or tribes may apply. Applicants may request a fixed grant amount of $10,000. Matching funds are not required, and a grant period of one year is allowed through June 30, 2023.
Eligible applicants must have received a New Mexico Arts award within the past six years. Please see the guidelines for complete eligibility criteria.
“We know New Mexico’s Arts Industry is still reeling from the impacts of Covid-19 and organizations are thoughtfully charting their way in a changed landscape, recovery is at the center of everyone’s minds, and New Mexico Arts is glad to offer this opportunity at this critical time,” said Anna Blyth, Grants Program Director at NM Arts.
All applications will be reviewed by an advisory panel. Depending on funding availability, it is anticipated that applicants will be notified of funding awards in Summer 2022. The deadline for submissions is April 29, 2022. Please visit the New Mexico Arts website for more information: https://www.nmarts.org/relief-funds.html.
